On the evening of January 25th, after the sun set and people were settled in at home, tragedy struck again in the Birmingham area. An EF3 tornado, with winds of up to 150 mph tore through the heart of Fultondale and weaved its way into part of Pinson, leaving in its wake a path of destruction. Homes were lost and lives were impacted in inconceivable ways.
Our hearts break every time there is a tragedy like this. And we want to help. Because that’s what we do - we help each other regardless of where we live, what we look like or what our circumstances are. We are strong here in Jefferson County but sometimes we need others to help us gather our strength, to prop us up, and to get us through.
There has been an outpouring of support for the Jefferson County Schools' family and, in particular, the Fultondale and Pinson families. People are giving generously of their time and their money to those who lost, in some cases, everything they had.
Some of us want to help but we just don't know how. That is where we come in. The Jefferson County Schools Education Foundation is there to support students and families in our communities. We wanted to provide a safe and realiable way way for people to give, knowing that whatever they give will get to those who need it. Our Foundation is set up for that and 100% of the donations to the Fultondale-Pinson Relief Fund will go to our families and students who need help during this tragic time.
So whether you are able to give a little or a lot, every donation counts. Together we can make a difference!
